Eat in the Japanese way

We’ve just came from Japan 10 days ago and I’ve got inspired by the way Japanese people eat. In guesthouses when we stayed and in restaurants where we ate, food was always served in a beautiful ceremonial way. When you attend a food ceremony 3 times a day, you just cannot devour your food quickly as usual. The food just has a different taste eating in a ceremonial way. Even simple dishes taste great.

Food in Japan is also served in many small plates and bowls instead on one big plate and you eat it with chopsticks. Every time I ate, it was a celebration of tastes discovered on colorful small plates. The taste was more intense when you could eat only a small amount at once with your chopsticks. It amazing to eat from 5-8 small bowls and plates and experience new sensation of each dish! Small piece of fish, pickled vegetables, pumpkin in a special sauce, miso soup with shitake mushrooms, bowl of rice. You don’t need to eat a lot to feel satisfied.

I bought various small plates and bowls in Japan. When I came home to Europe I started serving food in a beautiful way on small plates and bowls. Finally I can eat less and feel more satisfied with what I eat. I take also more time to taste the food. I experience magical moments every day!

You can also do it. It doesn’t matter what kind of dish you would like to eat. Just prepare eat in a few small bowls or plates instead on one big plate and you will notice the difference. Japanese people have also a rule that you should eat a variety of food every day to be healthy. Serving food on small dishes helps to achieve that. A piece of potato, a small fish, a piece of mozzarella and tomato, a small green salad, warm vegetables, a small soup… Whatever you want to eat, be creative and create a feast of that!
